A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff

Raindrops were honored to be a part of the film A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff.

A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff: The Film is inspired by Alicia’s experience working in an artist residency on Wall Street during the 2008 financial collapse. For a year, Rabins wrote songs in a dilapidated office around the corner from the New York Stock Exchange, watching through her studio window as the global economy came crashing down around her.

A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff adapts Rabins’ critically acclaimed original one-woman chamber-rock opera about this experience. Originally premiered with a live band at Joe’s Pub in NYC in 2012, A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff was further developed in collaboration with Portland theater producer Boom Arts, and went on to tour nationally as a critically acclaimed evening-length show with full-length animation by Portland artist Zak Margolis.

Popina Suit Try-On

Best part of partnering with Portland's best local swimwear shop? Try-on night!  We must have tried on all the suits in the store.  One pieces, solids, polka dots, tie backs, two pieces, all of it. We loved these red Jantzen numbers.  We think they would be great for one of routines, and red always stands out in the blue water.

You know that dream where you are standing in front of a bunch of strangers and you realize you are naked?  Ok, well, that sort of happened to us, except we were in swimsuits and we are pretty happy to be there, flaunting our stuff.

We are Portland through and through, and when the Portland Trailblazers asked us to help them show what makes Portland unique we of course stepped up and dove in to help them out.  

On the last warm day of the year we went for a swim in the Willamette to show our Portland pride. 

Thanks, Portland, for being a city that promotes it's unique qualities even in something as mainstream as NBA basketball.  We think that's pretty cool.

Music Video Debut: Blind Pilot, Packed Powder

Two years ago when we were just starting out we made a short video to promote our fancy moves.  When we needed music for that video we called our friends at Blind Pilot and they unhesitatingly offered their spirited, incredible song 'We are the Tide' for our video.  Now it was our turn to return the favor.  

Last fall Blind Pilot filmed the music vide for their song 'Packed Powder', and we didn't jumped in to help our friends and perform alongside them.  They picked the Columbia River in Astoria, OR for the shoot, and the setting couldn't be more picturesque.  

Not only are the folk in Blind Pilot the nicest people we know, they happen to be one of our favorite bands because their music is complex, insightful and what you want to listen to on repeat all day long.
